I just bought a 130 yr old fieldstone farmhouse that I LOVE. I also got all new furniture when I moved in (new davenport sofa, chocolate brown armchairs, chocolate brown drapery, antique trunk for coffee table)NOW my task is to accessorize. Which items do you feel make the most impact in a small space? Living room is only about 15′x17′, rectangular shape. 2 LARGE (48″x68″) windows, a woodstove at one end, open to the stairs leading to 2nd floor. Has a small built in bookcase near the stove. I have 2 children ,ages 6 and 9 mos. there are the 2 armchairs, sofa, trunk, tv stand (I need a new one) and a small table bewteen the chairs. I don’t have ANY accessories in the room. I need something child and pet friendly. I like the modern farmhouse lues, look- modern clean lines, but in cottagey farmhousey colours- green, brown, beige- very understated and organic feeling. the sofa has storage built in under the seat. I just need accessory ideas! Any tips on decorating this room??I should also add- –armchairs are chocolate brown tub style chairs–sofa is a davenport (folds into a guest bed) and is “Camel” coloured (beige) microsuede–navy blue antique luggage trunk for toy storage/coffee table–birch coloured Ikea cube end table in between the chairs–planning on replacing the tv stand with something more sleek, yet organic and woody feeling (32″ tv)–an antique mirror frame on the wall (no mirror in it)–an impressionist painting of a local nature reserve during Autumn on one wall (it’s too small for the wall, I think!)–grey carpet (being replaced this summer with soemthing that matches the honey coloured beams on the ceiling)–woodstove is our heat source, and is black coloured cast iron with a fieldstone base under it–HUGE windows (48″x68″) with chocolate coloured floor length drapes- want to replace with bamboo shades for more texture)–matte sage green walls-pine ceiling beams Tips to items online items would be awesome!!
